Investing in doctoral training
For the UK to reach a bioeconomy worth £100Bn we need to ensure that the skills underpinning this sector are in place at every level. BBSRC supports this through investing in high-level scientific training following undergraduate studies. Our innovative Doctoral Training Partnerships provide the core bioscience, as well as transferable professional, skills needed by modern bioscience doctoral graduates, regardless of career path.
Our doctoral graduates progress to a wide range of careers in a multitude of sectors, with over 40% remaining in academic careers.
Note to prospective students: BBSRC awards studentship funding directly to universities and research organisations, and not to students. Departments and supervisors advertise for students, therefore potential students should contact the institution at which they wish to undertake a research degree. Universities are responsible for checking students’ eligibility in line with the RCUK Training Grant Guide.
