Abstract

Transferosomes, a vesicular carrier has evolved as a very effective carrier for the delivery of therapeutics, both for topical application as well as for transdermal application. It has been utilized for the delivery of enumerable drugs both herbal and synthetic. The present review provides a detailed account of transferosomes, which includes their constitution, the mechanism by which they enhance the permeation of drugs and their advantages. Besides this, the review entails a compilation of the various applications of transferosomes in topical and transdermal delivery of drugs. The present review also supplements the current status of trnsferosomes with the future perspectives surrounding their use.
